The exhibition is dedicated to the late American sculptor Ronald Hughes, who died last spring. He would have been 60 in October. His studio was located adjacent to the gallery. A retrospective exhibition will take place in his rooms, accompanied by a group exhibition of 24 artists.

Ronald Hughes was born on October 24th, 1939 in Moline, Illinois. From 1958 -62 he studied sculpture and graphic arts at St. John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota and finished his studies with a Bachelor of Art degree. In 1963, he came to Cologne. He iniitially worked for the Cologne sculptor Elmar Hillebrand and was then accepted at the State Academy of Art in Düsseldorf. He studied sculpture, from 1964 - 67, under Prof. Manfred Sieler. He returned to the USA and took up his artistic work in Illinois, New York and Kentucky. Again in Germany in 1979 he was employed as sculptor in the Strassacker Company in Süssen and stayed there until 1997. In the fall of 1997, he established his workshop and studio in the back premises of the Gallery Kränzl in Goeppingen.
